Tips for Cleaning Mirrored Furniture

Having mirrored furniture in your home is a fantastic way of increasing the perceived space available and creating a clear and clean interior decor. However, this look can be spoiled if the furniture becomes dirty with fingerprints or smudges which is why cleaning it is so important. This article will guide you through cleaning mirrored furniture so you can keep it looking as good as new for a long time to come.

First of all, before you buy mirror furniture you should be aware that they require a bit more maintenance than other types. Dirt and other smudges show up much more easily on mirrored chests and tables (and other types) and they can build up relatively quickly – especially if it’s a piece of furniture that’s regularly touched like a chest of drawers or an oven. Even so, if you want your house to look modern and stylish then you can’t go far wrong with mirror furniture as long as you’re willing to take good care of it.

In most cases cleaning a piece of mirrored furniture isn’t a difficult job. Unless there is some particularly difficult grime to remove then a soft sponge and some soap water will probably do the trick. Be careful not to use anything too abrasive though because you don’t want to damage the surface.

If you find that some of the dirt is proving difficult to remove with just soap water then you could try using a small cup of vinegar and some warm water. Leave this solution on the areas of dirt for a few seconds and then wipe it off using a sponge. This will help to loosen up the dirt and make it easier to remove it. In the vast majority of cases these techniques will work well enough to clean almost any mirrors furniture without damaging it.

The main benefit of having furniture using mirrors is the reflections it provides but these will be distorted and spoiled if the mirror has a lot of dirt or smudges. Cleaning a mirror only takes a few minutes and is time well spent. While it’s true that glass furniture mirrored is more effort to maintain than other options such as wood or plastic, for many people the extra style that they can bring to a room is worth the extra time. You should be aware that mirrored furniture does mark easily though so it may not be suitable if you have a young family.
